Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
