Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
